Information About an iRobot Roomba 4230 Scheduler

The iRobot Corporation, headquartered in Bedford, Massachusetts, designs and sells consumer cleaning robots like the iRobot Roomba 4230 remote scheduler robotic vacuum. This is a battery-powered floor cleaning machine that vacuums your floors whenever you need it to. It senses the type of floors that you have and adjusts to that surface. As of 2011, this product costs approximately $300, and you can purchase it from both online and local vendors.
  1. Features

    • The iRobot Roomba 4230 remote scheduler robotic vacuum features a scheduling mechanism that allows you to set the days and times when the vacuum cleans your home. It has a "Dirt Detect" mode, which uses two sensors to detect the dirtiness of a particular floor. The Roomba more intensely cleans extremely dirty areas, including areas covered by rice and sand. This vacuum is very small, which allows it to fit in tight corners and under furniture. The remote helps you guide the vacuum to a specific area, or you can press the "Clean" button to start the Roomba. Press the "Spot" and "Clean" buttons together to send the Roomba back to "Home Base."

    Specs

    • This robotic vacuum cleaner comes with rechargeable batteries. It returns to the "Home Base" when the batteries are getting low. You can schedule the vacuum to clean once a day or once a week, or you can schedule it to clean your floors up to three times per day. The vacuum comes with the "Virtual Walls" feature, which creates a zone perimeter. The Roomba 4230 will not enter this perimeter. The "Virtual Walls" option shuts off after about 130 minutes in standard mode and after about 100 minutes in scheduled mode. This feature protects an area about 13-feet wide.

    Maintenance

    • Always empty out the trash bin and the filter compartment every time you run the Roomba 4230. After five uses, take out and clean the internal brushes. Clean the sensors and the vacuum inlet as they get dirty. Keep the "Home Base" plugged in at all times. If not, the Roomba can't charge itself.

    Troubleshooting

    • If the Roomba 4230 keeps spinning in place, use either compressed air or a Q-tip to clean the cliff sensor, which is under the bumper. Also clean the brush bearings and brushes. Remove and reinstall the battery if it won't charge. You must hear two clicks when you insert the battery. If the battery still won't charge, remove the charger from the "Home Base," and plug it directly into the Roomba. Call for service if these solutions don't resolve the issue. The Roomba must be within 8 feet of "Home Base" or at "Home Base" to use the "Scheduler" commands. Point the remote directly at the Roomba, and enter the commands.
