How to Use a Dirt Devil Deluxe Shampooer

The Dirt Devil Deluxe carpet shampooer features a rotating power brush, 1- gallon water and cleaning tanks, 25-foot power cord, 11-inch cleaning path and a 5.2-amp motor. The device is available online or in many home retail or department stores and comes with a limited warranty. Operating the Dirt Devil shampooer is generally easy, but is a job for adults because of the chemicals, warm water, electricity and the weight of the machine.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the carpet with a regular vacuum cleaner first to pull up extra dirt and debris prior to using the Dirt Devil carpet shampooer. Move furniture out of the way.

    • 2

Push down on the latch to remove the cleaning solution tank from the unit. Pull out the included measuring cap from the back of the solution tank, fill with Dirt Devil cleaning formula and pour into the tank. Repeat four more times to fill the tank with approximately 5 oz. of formula. Fill the rest of the solution tank with hot, clean water. Return the measuring cap to its position.

    • 3

Set the bottom of the cleaning solution tank in the unit first and then push the top into position until you hear a click. Connect the power cord to a working power outlet and turn the main power switch to "On."

    • 4

Squeeze the cleaning trigger on the handle. Continue to press the trigger while pushing the Dirt Devil forward. Release the trigger and pull the device back over the same area to suction up the wet solution. Repeat over the same area for heavy soil.

    • 5

Continue over the carpet surface, making overlapping sections. Turn off and unplug the shampooer when finished.

    • 6

Grab the top of the dirty water tank from the base of the unit and pull up to remove. Lift the lid up and out to remove. Hold the handle with one hand and the nozzle with the other while pouring the dirty water into a sink or other large drain. Rinse the tank well with hot water and set aside to air dry.

    • 7

Wipe out with a towel before returning to the base of the unit. Lift up the front of the cleaner base with one hand and hook the front of the dirty water tank into position before pushing the rear of the tank into place. Set the cleaner down when the nozzle is aligned with the base of the cleaner.
