How to Use a Bissell

Vacuum cleaners by the Bissell Company are available online and in many home retail stores, department stores and appliance stores. The vacuum cleaners offer various options, such as HEPA filters, a wide cleaning path, a variety of attachments and tools, bagless suction, a long power cord, and a dirt cup with a bottom-empty latch. Using a Bissell vacuum is generally easy. Vacuum on a regular basis to keep carpets and other surfaces in the home clean and free of dirt and debris.

Instructions

Connect the power cord into a working power outlet. Choose the desired floor type for cleaning and turn the "Height Setting" dial to that floor type. "Medium" is best for most carpet types, while "Low" is best for bare floors or delicate rugs or carpets and "High" is appropriate for high-pile carpeting.

    • 2

Turn the power "On" and press on the foot pedal to bring the handle down into the cleaning position.

    • 3

Move the vacuum in a forward and then backward motion over the area to be cleaned. Make overlapping sections for the best results.

    • 4

Bring the handle back to the upright position when finished. Turn the power "Off" and unplug the vacuum cleaner.

    • 5

Push down on the latch to remove the dirt bin and hold it over a waste bin. Push the latch on the bottom of the cup to empty the contents into the waste bin.

    • 6

Remove the filter from the dirt bin and tap over a waste bin. Lift out the other filter from the base of the dirt bin and tap over the waste bin. Rinse the filters with water if extremely dirty, unless it is a HEPA filter, which should not be washed. Air dry the filters for at least 24 hours.

Put the filters back in place. Set the dirt container back into position.
