Turn off and unplug the Rainbow vacuum cleaner.
Open the top lid and lift out the water tank. Empty out any water from the tank.
Wash the interior of the water tank with warm, soapy water and a scrubbing brush. Rinse thoroughly and use a towel to dry completely.
Loosen the "Separator," which looks like a small cap located underneath the water tank. Use a wrench if necessary to loosen the nut that holds the separator in place. Clean the separator with a clean cloth and water. Dry with a towel and return to the vacuum cleaner immediately after clean and dry. Tighten the nut firmly.
Remove the brushes and upholstery tool from the vacuum base and wash with warm, soapy water. Rinse well and set it aside to air dry. Return to the vacuum when completely dry.
Remove the rear panel by pushing up on the two latches located on the underside of the panel. Lift up and out to remove. Lift out the HEPA neutralizer and set in a sink with the oval opening turned up. Fill with cool water until water spills out of the opening and continue to fill with cool water for 1 minute. Turn the neutralizer over and let the water drain. Repeat until no dirt comes out when water is drained.
Shake the neutralizer well and replace in the vacuum cleaner. Set the vacuum on the edge of a towel with the vent door facing the towel. Place the "Airflow Adapter" on the front of the vacuum and run the vacuum for 30 minutes to dry the neutralizer.
