How to Clean Using a Commercial Floor Machine

Commercial grade floor cleaning machines, also called buffers, are traditionally used in large-scale settings such as hospitals, schools, office buildings and other areas where there is a large amount of hard flooring that must be cleaned. However, the same floor cleaning or buffing machines may prove to be useful in a residential setting or in smaller commercial settings to clean the floor more efficiently than traditional mopping methods. Note that only adults should operate a commercial floor machine and caution should be used at all times.

Instructions

    • 1

Shake the pad or brush prior to attaching it to the machine to make sure debris such as dirt or other items are not present that could scratch the floor.

    • 2

Connect the pad or brush to the commercial floor machine. Spread the cleaning solution across the floor, creating an even layer on the surface.

    • 3

Connect the cleaning machine power cord to a working power outlet and turn the power switch to "On."

    • 4

Move the floor machine in even, large circles across the floor, keeping the machine in constant motion to avoid damaging the floor. Clean the floor from the left to the right, following the clockwise circles made by the cleaning machine.

    • 5

Replace the brush or pad with a new one if it gets excessively dirty during cleaning.

    • 6

Continue until the entire surface is clean. Turn off and unplug the floor machine. Remove the brush or cleaning pad.
