How to Troubleshoot a Roomba With No Sound

The Roomba cleaning vacuum by iRobot is meant for use in homes to clean hard floor surfaces and carpets. The vacuum operates with a rechargeable battery and runs independently without the need for a human to direct or push it. The robot uses a system of beeps to communicate operational errors if problems are experienced. If for some reason the sound on the robot is silenced, troubleshooting the machine is still possible and may resolve the issue.

Instructions

    • 1

Lift up the vacuum if it is stuck in position. Set the Roomba back down in a new spot and press "Start."

    • 2

Turn the robot over if the vacuum is not suctioning up dirt or debris. Clean the brushes and remove any long strings. Clean the wheels with a dry cloth and push the wheels in and release. This will help ensure that the wheels can move freely.

Clean the sensors under the bumper if the Roomba is bumping into walls or falling off stairs. Use a clean, dry cloth.

    • 4

Hold the robot over a waste bin and tap the front bumper of the vacuum 20 times quickly if the Roomba is moving erratically, to remove dirt or debris.
