The Steam-Cleaning Process

• The steam cleaner's tank is filled with water, which is boiled to produce hot, dry steam. The high-pressure steam is then applied to the surface being cleaned, either directly through a variety of nozzles or through mocrofiber cloths. When steam is applied directly, the loosened dirt and grime is wiped away. When applied through a microfiber cloth, the cloth absorbs the loosened dirt and grime. Brushes can be attached to the machine's nozzle when steam is applied directly to surfaces being cleaned. The brushes loosen stubborn marks and grease.

• The Reliable Corporation's steam mop is called the Steamboy. It delivers steam with a temperature of 248 degrees Fahrenheit through a large triangular cleaning head, designed to fit into corners. The cleaning head is covered with a microfiber pad that absorbs dirt and grease loosened by the steam. You can also use the Steamboy to steam-clean carpets and rugs by attaching a frame known as a "carpet glider" to the cleaning head. Turbulence caused by the hot, dry steam loosens dirt and grime from the carpet pile. The dirt is then absorbed by the microfiber pad.

It comes with a hose, a steam gun, several brushes and a rectangular attachment used to steam-clean upholstery and curtains when covered with a cotton towel. This tool can also be used to clean windows when combined with a detachable squeegee. Steam leaving the Enviromate Pronto 7 is at 245 degrees Fahrenheit when one eighth of an inch from the nozzle. The machine's four bar pressure ensures a constantly strong jet of steam.
