How to Clean Stairs With Hoover Steam Vac

The Hoover SteamVac is a powerful all-terrain steam vacuum cleaner that effectively adapts to both carpeted and hardwood surfaces. With its eight foot long hose, you can easily access hard-to-reach spaces in your home with ease. Navigating up and down the stairs with the Hoover SteamVac might be difficult, so use of the attachments is necessary for a hassle-free cleaning. Once properly set up, you can remove dirt and grime from your stairs in no time.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the vacuum from the outlet.

    • 2

Open the connection port on the top of the cleaning head.

    • 3

Slip the small end of the hose attachment into the open port, being sure to match the tabs to lock it in place.

    • 4

Insert the solution tube from the end of the hose attachment into the solution connection port on the right side of the vacuum head.

    • 5

Connect the carpet cleaning head to the end of the tube so that it locks into place.

    • 6

Fill the water tank of the Hoover vacuum with clean water and detergent container with "Hoover Carpet/Upholstery detergent." Consult the user guide for proper filling methods.

    • 7

Position the vacuum at the bottom of the stairs.

    • 8

Plug the vacuum into a grounded electrical outlet.

    • 9

Turn the rinse settings to "Wash-AutoRinse," then turn the vacuum "ON."

    • 10

Hold the carpet cleaning attachment parallel to the first step and one inch above it. Press the trigger to release the spray in an even stroke forward.

    • 11

Press the head of the attachment against the step and near the riser, then hold the trigger and slowly pull backward.

    • 12

Lift up the attachment head and make a second stroke backward but this time without holding the trigger.

    • 13

Repeat this process for each step. Unplug the vacuum and move it to the top of the steps if the hose cannot reach the higher steps.
