How to Change a Belt in a Dirt Devil, Model 08240

The Dirt Devil 08240 is a mini-canister vacuum cleaner that can convert into a canister vacuum. The device is designed for use around the home or in small spaces, such as cars or stairs. The unit features a revolving power brush, motorized brush roll, 20-foot-long cord, filter, 6.5-amp motor and an overall weight of 5.5 pounds. If the belt on the vacuum cleaner becomes damaged or broken, it may be necessary to replace the belt. New belts are available through Dirt Devil and are relatively simple to install.

      Disconnect the Dirt Devil from power and turn the device over. Remove the screws holding the nozzle cover in place.

      Pull the power nozzle up and lift the cover off. Lift up one end of the brush roll and remove the brush roll from the unit.

      Remove the broken belt. Loop a new belt around the motor shaft and around one end of the brush roll.

      Push the other end of the brush roll into the vacuum cleaner and roll the brush roll to ensure the belt moves easily.

      Close the nozzle guard and replace the screws.
