How to Troubleshoot a Eureka Power Plus 12 Amp

The Eureka Power Plus is an upright vacuum cleaner with a 12-amp motor, washable allergen filter, adjustable height, 20-foot-long cord, cyclone suction, flip-bottom dirt cup and a cleaning path width of 13 inches. The vacuum is sold in many home retail and department stores, as well as online, and comes with a limited warranty. Repairs or service may not be necessary, however, if owners try some troubleshooting first when problems occur with the vacuum cleaner.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect the Eureka Power Plus vacuum power cord firmly into a power outlet if the vacuum will not start. Try plugging it into another outlet or replace or restart the circuit breaker or fuse.

    • 2

Change the carpet height setting if the vacuum cleaner is not suctioning up dirt or debris. The "Bare Floor" position should be used for hard floors, and "Low" is best for delicate rugs or carpets, while "High" is best for deep pile carpets.

    • 3

Empty the dust container and rinse out the filter if the height adjustment is correct but the vacuum is not suctioning well. Dry the filter completely before putting it back into the vacuum cleaner.

    • 4

Check the hose and nozzle for obstructions if the hose is not suctioning or there is a change in tone during use. Clear as necessary.

    • 5

Disconnect power and lower the handle before turning the vacuum over if there is a burning smell or the brush roll does not turn. Clean fibers from the brush roll that may impede movement, and replace the belt if damaged or broken. There is a window on the base of the vacuum that allows a view of the belt to see if it is moving correctly. New belts can be purchased through Eureka.
