Easiest Way to Clean the Oven

Cleaning a dirty oven can be challenging, as it often involves scrubbing off baked-on food while assuming uncomfortable positions. Fortunately, you can make this chore less labor-intensive with an oven cleaner. Create a natural cleaner with baking soda and avoid the toxic contents of manufactured products.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the oven. Stuff any holes in the oven with newspaper or aluminum foil, especially those on the sides of the floor of the oven. Blocking the holes prevents moisture from reaching the oven's heating elements.

    • 2

Sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda on the bottom of the oven, especially on any baked-on food. Spray the powder with water until it is moist. Close the oven door.

    • 3

Keep the baking soda moist. Check the oven occasionally for the rest of the day and spray more water on the baking soda if it is beginning to dry.

    • 4

Leave the baking soda in the oven overnight to lift off the baked-on food and other grime. Use a wet sponge to wipe the baking soda off the bottom of the oven the following day. The messes and stains should wipe off easily.
