How to Clean a Blue Star Cast-Iron Gas Range

Blue Star gas ranges come in a number of styles, including residential, French-top and heritage, and are often found in professional kitchens. The 22,000 BTU burner in some Blue Star ranges has the most power of any range on the market, according to the company. While the bodies of Blue Star gas ranges are all stainless steel, the burner grates are made of cast iron. Food and spills on the grates can build up over time, causing your range to smoke. Cleaning the cast iron components of the Blue Star range will keep it looking good and prevent it from smoking.

Turn off the Blue Star gas range and allow it to cool.

Remove the cast iron burner grates from the range. Place the grates into the soapy water. Scrub the cast iron grates with the cloth to remove any stuck-on food. Allow the grates to soak for 10 to 15 minutes if they're heavily soiled. Scrub the grates well after they soak.
