How to Clean the Pre-filter on a PermaLife Air Cleaner

PermaLife air filters clean the air in a room with a pre-filter, a PermaLife filter and an ionizer. The pre-filter removes odors from the room by absorbing them. You can place the PermaLife air filters near a diaper bin or a cat box to keep the air in the room clean and odor free. The pre-filter on the PermaLife air filter needs to be changed at least once every three months. The PermaLife air filter manual does not recommend cleaning the pre-filter, since the odors are absorbed into the filter. Rather, you must replace the filter.

     Unplug the PermaLife air filter from the power source.

     Pull open on the front grille of the PermaLife air filter. Hold the handle at the top of the grill and pull forward.

     Pull out the pre-filter, located right in front of the grill. Pull up on the pre-filter to remove it. Slide a new pre-filter in the old filter's place.

     Turn the pre-filter dial to the current month to keep track of when to change it again.
