How to Clean a Lopi Yankee Pellet Stove

The Lopi Yankee pellet stoves can heat from 800 to 2,250 square feet of a home. These stoves have a burn rate of 1.7 to 5.5 lbs. of pellets per hour and a hopper capacity of 80 lbs. They can burn for up to 47 hours before they need to be refilled. The efficiently of the Lopi Yankee pellet stove is at about 75 percent. Like most pellet stoves, regular maintenance is needed to keep it working well during the heating season.

      Allow the stove to cool for at least 25 minutes, and open the door. Clean out the fire pot by pushing a screwdriver into the holes in the bottom to clear them off ash. Vacuum out any fly ash with the fly ash vacuum. Clean daily.

      Open the hopper daily and vacuum out the dust and debris at the bottom of the hopper.

      Open the heat exchanger door weekly and push the heat exchanger rod into the tubes to clean them out. Open the baffle below the heat exchanger tubes and vacuum out any fly ash.

      Brush all the ash from the inside of the stove into the ash pan and dispose of the ash weekly. Spray the glass with a glass cleaner and wipe it down with a cloth.

      Open the maintenance hatch to the blowers with the screwdriver. Vacuum out the vertical blower and the exhaust blower. Wipe off the blower blades with a cloth. Replace the blower and close the maintenance door.
