Setting up the steam cleaner for use with a floor surface is the same as preparing it for use on countertops and other surfaces. Set the unit on a stable surface and fill the included measuring cup with 300 ml of clean, cold water. Fill the water tank and close the lid. Note that using the cleaning solution tank is not recommended, as the Hoover multi-purpose or disinfectant solution is not meant for use on flooring and could cause damage to the floor. Set the "Clean Control" dial to "Off" as no cleaning solution is being used.
Press the power button on the Hoover steam cleaner and allow between three and six minutes for the unit to heat up. Once the indicator light turns green, squeeze the trigger on the handle to dispense the steam onto the floor surface, holding the steamer several inches away from the floor. Use a clean cloth or clean cloth mop to scrub the floor surface once the steam has been applied. When finished, press the power button to turn the steam cleaner off.
As most kitchen floor surfaces are fairly large, it will probably be necessary to refill the water tank at least once, if not more, during use. To do so, turn off the power and unplug the cord on the steam cleaner. Squeeze the steam trigger until the "Safety Pressure" indicator drops below the surface of the cap, indicating that all excess pressure has been relieved. This may take seven to 10 minutes. Carefully unscrew the water tank lid counterclockwise but do not open it. Wait five minutes and then lift off the cap. Refill the water tank and close the lid. Restore power and wait for the unit to reheat before resuming the cleaning task.
Be aware that while using the Hoover steam cleaner for a kitchen floor is possible, it is not designed for this specific use. As such, it may eventually cause overuse of the machine, which can result in damage to the unit. The limited warranty is invalidated if the tool is damaged due to misuse, so any repair, maintenance or damage caused by floor cleaning will likely not be covered by the Hoover Company.
