How to Clean Cooked-on Grease From a Non-Glass Stovetop

Most non-glass stovetops have enamel painted finishes. You can clean cooked-on grease from a non-glass stovetop, although it will require a bit of hard work. Fortunately, enamel stands up to less caustic acids such as vinegar. Vinegar breaks down grease and makes the task of cleaning a heavily soiled stove easier.

Things You'll Need

  • White distilled vinegar
  • Dish soap
  • Spray bottle
  • Clean rag

Instructions

    • 1

Pour white distilled vinegar into a spray bottle and add a few drops of mild dish soap. Shake the bottle to mix everything together.

    • 2

Saturate the cooked-on grease with the solution and wait 15 to 20 minutes.

    • 3

Wipe the surface with a clean rag and then rinse the rag in warm water. Continue to wipe the surface until no more grease comes off. If cooked-on grease is still stuck to the stovetop, add additional vinegar solution to the top of the stove, wait 15 minutes and repeat the wiping process until it is all gone.
