How to Clean High Gloss Black Water Spots

A high-gloss black provides a modern and sleek design to any decor, and is gaining in popularity as a finish for kitchen appliances. Unfortunately, high-gloss black makes water spots, fingerprints and smudges easier to see than flat finishes. If water that splashes on the item is left to dry, an unsightly water spot will appear. These spots, and marks will make the high-gloss black appear dull, and dingy. Fortunately, routine cleaning will help remove the water spots and restore the look of the high-gloss black finish.

Lint-free cloths
Small container
Distilled water
White vinegar
Spray bottle

Instructions

  Wipe the high-gloss black finish with a dry, lint-free cloth. Start at the top and wipe in a sweeping motion while moving down. This will remove any surface dust or debris on the glossy finish.

  Fill a container with 1 cup of distilled water and 1 cup of white vinegar. Pour the diluted vinegar mixture carefully into a clean spray bottle.

  Mist a clean lint-free cloth with the diluted vinegar. Start at the top of the high-gloss black, and wipe in a sweeping motion over the surface. The white vinegar will clean the surface while cutting through grease, grime and hard-water spots.

  Reapply the diluted vinegar to the cloth when it becomes dry and continue wiping the high-gloss black while moving down toward the bottom.

  Buff the high-gloss black dry with a clean, lint-free cloth. Repeat the process as needed.
