How to Set-Up a Hoover Steam Vac Jr

The Hoover Steam Vac Jr. is a compact steam cleaner that is recommended by its manufacturer for small cleaning jobs, and stain removal on carpets and upholstered furniture. It can also be used for removing stains and spills on bare or tiled surfaces. As of this writing, the Steam Vac Jr. is discontinued, but new and refurbished units are available from private sellers. You set it up before use by adding detergent and water to the fill tank, and the unit has its own measuring device for the detergent.

Instructions

  Unwind the power cord from the carrying handle of your Steam Vac Jr. and remove the nozzle from its cradle on top of the unit so that you can extend the hose.

  Pull out the fill cap that is located in the indentation at the top of the steam cleaner lid, near the handle and at the opposite side of the pour spout.

  Measure one or two ounces of Hoover Steam Vac Jr. detergent and pour it into the fill port hole, which is the hole you exposed when you removed the fill cap.

  Add 1 quart of water for each ounce of detergent; if you use one ounce, the solution should reach the "1/2 Capacity line" on the side of the fill tank, and if you add two ounces, the half-gallon of solution you mix should reach the "Full capacity" line.

  Replace the fill cap.

  Plug the power cord into a three-hole electrical outlet, or attach a three-prong to two-prong grounding adapter to the cord and plug it into a two-hole outlet.

  Turn the power switch forward (away from the fill cap) to start your Hoover Steam Vac Jr.
