How to Clean Rusted Andirons

Andirons are metal bars used to hold burning logs in a fireplace. The purpose of andirons is to allow air circulation around and beneath the logs to maximize burning and reduce smoke. Andirons hold the ashes and burning embers in place as the logs burn and prevent them from spilling out of the fireplace. Moisture and oxidation can cause andirons to rust, but you can restore their appearance with the proper cleaning products and technique.
