GE Range Cleaning Directions

GE offers a wide variety of ranges such as gas, electric and smooth-top. Regardless of which type of GE range you have, food residue and stains are inevitable. Clean your GE range on a regular basis to maintain its appearance and reduce smoke and odors.
  1. Flat Cooktops

    • Clean flat cooktops with a dedicated cooktop cleaner. These cleaners are specially formulated to remove tough debris without harming the cooktop. Clean the cooled cooktop with a nonabrasive scrub pad and polish it to a shine with a dry cloth.

    Gas and Electric Ranges

    • Clean gas or electric coil-based ranges with an all-purpose cleaner or hot, soapy water and a sponge. Soak removable parts such as burners, grates and drip pans in soapy water before scrubbing. Rinse the range top and any removable parts before drying and replacing.

    Manual Oven Cleaning

    • Loosen any baked-on residue with ammonia to avoid heavy scrubbing. Fill a glass dish with full-strength ammonia and place it inside the oven overnight. In the morning, remove the dish full of ammonia and discard. Wipe out the inside of the oven with hot, soapy water and a sponge.

    Self-Cleaning

    • The self-cleaning feature eliminates the need for strong chemicals and extra labor. Remove any loose items from inside the oven and wipe up any large spills. Close the oven door, set the self-cleaning settings and remain at home during the entire process. When the cycle is finished, wipe any ash from inside the cooled oven and replace the racks.
