Lack of Suction in a Bissell Pro Heat 2 Steam Cleaner

The Bissell ProHeat 2X is an upright cleaner with 10 cleaning rows of brushes, a surround suction system to clean edges and a built-in hot water heater. The unit has a 12-inch cleaning path and a 12-amp motor, with an overall weight of 26 lbs. and a cord length of 27 inches. If the ProHeat begins to lose suction while cleaning, there are a few possible reasons why.
  1. Full Tank

    • If the recovery tank where the dirty water gets suctioned gets full, the ProHeat may stop suctioning dirt and water into the tank. Lift up on the tank handle and lift the tank out. Pour out the dirty water through the opening in the corner of the tank and rinse out the tank. Fill the top part of the tank with hot water and latch the tank in the bottom of the unit.

    Filter

    • The filter inside the vacuum requires regular cleaning in order for the ProHeat to function properly, including suctioning. After removing the water tank from the machine, locate the red filter cap in the machine base. Use a coin to lift up the cap up and then turn it counter-clockwise to remove. Remove the white filter from the unit and rinse well with cold water. Place the white filter back into the unit and close the red cap clockwise to secure.

    Clogged Nozzle

    • If the nozzle on cleaning head gets clogged, it may not suction up dirt or water. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the screw holding the floor nozzle in place on the bottom of the machine. Rinse the floor nozzle with water and then hook the tabs on the nozzle into the slots on the machine. Return the screw into place.

    Brush Roll

    • Remove strings, fiber or hair that might get trapped on the brush roll and prevent the brush from turning. If the brush roll cannot rotate, it prohibits proper function of the carpet cleaner. If needed, use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the brush roll and clean the end caps with a clean paper towel.

    Float Door

    • The ProHeat has a red float indicator on the tank door that can occasionally get stuck in position. If the float is not moving around, turn the machine off and wait until the red float door releases and is open. Restore power to continue cleaning.
