How to Turn Up an Oreck Vacuum

Oreck vacuums are known for their high power and reliability. The Oreck line, which is usually available directly from Oreck sales locations or from the Oreck website, is comprised of many different canister, handheld and upright (floor) vacuum cleaners with different sets of features for different uses and budgets. Some Oreck vacuum cleaners have more than one power setting. If you have a model with a variable power switch, you can turn the suction power up as necessary in order to handle tough jobs.

  Plug in your Oreck vacuum and use the power switch to turn on the motor. The power switch on an upright is usually at the top of the vacuum handle; on a canister model it is usually found near the center of the canister housing.

  Slide or click the power switch into the "High" position to turn up the speed on a two-speed upright.

  Press "High" on the speed switch below the power switch to select between the three highest speeds on the "Edge" series with variable power control. Each time you press "High," the motor will increase in speed.

  Slide the speed control switch, which is located on the top of variable-speed Oreck canister vacuums, toward the right to increase the motor power setting.
