How to Get Smells Out of a Rubber Gasket in a Pressure Cooker

Bad smells can permeate nearly any material, including rubber. Many appliances, such as pressure cookers, rice cookers and blenders include a rubber gasket to create a seal. If the appliance can't be submerged in water, the gasket is usually removable for cleaning. You can remove a nasty smell from the gasket easily, and should always remember to remove it immediately after use and soak it in hot, soapy water to prevent it from absorbing the smell of whatever you were cooking.
