How to Clean a Halogen Cooktop

A halogen cooktop uses glass to heat up your food rather than the traditional method of metal burners, which use gas. The glass cooktop's surface is sturdy enough for heavy pots and pans but is also prone to scratching if you drag cookware against its surface. The surface is also susceptible to damage if you use abrasive cleaning tools or liquids to remove food stains, as the glass surface easily shows scuffs, scratches and cracks over time without careful cleaning.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the cooktop, and allow it to cool completely before cleaning it.

    • 2

Dispense three to four drops of cooktop cleaning cream directly onto the glass cooktop.

    • 3

Spread the cream over the dirty area of the cooktop with a paper towel.

    • 4

Place your hand in an oven mitt to protect it, and hold a razor scraper at a 45 degree angle to the cooktop.

    • 5

Press down on the scraper, and gently scrape the caked-on spillage from the cooktop.

    • 6

Reapply the cleaning cream as you scrape to prevent accidental scratches to the cooktop's surface.

    • 7

Buff the cooktop with a dry paper towel to remove the cream and food residue.
