How to Fix a Hoover All Terrain SteamVac When the Brushes Won't Rotate

The Hoover All Terrain SteamVac carpet cleaner can clean a wide variety of floors and surfaces, including hardwood floors, carpets, furniture and stairs. The cleaner features an automatic rinse setting, separate dirty and clean water tanks, removable nozzle, 13-inch wide cleaning path, squeegee drying for hardwood floors and a set of rotating brushes for cleaning carpets. However, if the brushes will not rotate, you might be able to figure out why through some troubleshooting.

Instructions

    • 1

Disconnect power to your Hoover All Terrain SteamVac carpet cleaner. Remove the cleaning tanks from the base unit.

    • 2

Lay the carpet cleaner on the floor. Squeeze the filter frame, located just below the brushes, and pull it out. Wipe the screen off with a clean, damp cloth then re-insert it into the carpet cleaner.

    • 3

Clean any long fibers that might be caught in the brushes with a pair of scissors. Rotate the brushes manually.

    • 4

Set the carpet cleaner back up. Set the "SpinScrub" selector to "Hard Carpet" or "Carpet Terrain," depending on the surface to be cleaned. If the selector is set to "Spill Pick-Up," the brushes will not turn.
