Killing bacteria can be inexpensive, done with items found in your kitchen. Making your own solution for killing bacteria is ideal for the more ecologically conscious, and is easier on the wallet.

  • Water

Instructions

      Mix 1/2 cup of bleach to 1 gallon of hot water in a large bowl or bucket. Pour into a spray bottle and spray on surfaces like toilet seats, stove tops, and counters. Wipe thoroughly with a sponge or a cleaning cloth.

      Mix 1 part hydrogen peroxide to 1 part water and pour into a spray bottle. Doorknobs, phones, remote controls, as well as appliances and counter tops can be disinfected with this solution. It also works as a cleaning agent to remove tough stains.

      Pour a 5 percent solution of vinegar into a spray bottle and use to disinfect and kill bacteria on surfaces like cutting boards, counter tops and appliances. Vinegar is also a good cleaning agent for toilets and coffee pots, in addition to killing most bacteria.
