Allow the stove and oven to cool completely before beginning the cleaning process.
Remove the burners -- if applicable -- and submerge them in warm, soapy water. Let the burners soak for 30 minutes before scrubbing them clean with a nylon scrubber, rinsing them with cool water and letting them air-dry.
Dampen a clean cloth with warm soapy water. Wipe the top of the stove with the cloth to remove surface debris. Rinse the stove's surface with a clean cloth dampened with water.
Add several drops of white vinegar to a clean sponge and scrub grease off the stove with the sponge in a vigorous circular motion. Wipe the vinegar residue off of the stove with damp paper towels.
Apply baking soda to a clean, damp sponge. Scrub stuck-on grime and food with the baking soda-coated side of the sponge. Continue scrubbing until you have removed the grime.
Wipe any lingering residue from the stove with a damp paper towel. Dry the surface with clean paper towels.
Preheat the oven to 150 degrees Fahrenheit for several minutes and turn the oven off. If your oven is a gas oven, make sure that the pilot light and main gas lines are turned off before continuing.
Pour clear ammonia into a glass bowl. Set the bowl onto a baking sheet and set it inside the preheated oven on the top oven rack.
Place a bowl filled with boiling water onto the bottom oven rack. Close the oven door and leave the ammonia-filled bowl in the oven for 24 hours.
Dampen a clean sponge with cool water. Wipe the top, sides and bottom of the oven clean with the sponge.
