How to Use a ProChem Performer

The ProChem Performer is a truck or van-mounted high-pressure carpet cleaning system. It utilizes a dedicated 4-cycle engine for up to 1,000 psi pump pressure and an on-board heat exchanger for heating cleaning chemicals. The waste tank capacity is 66 gallons. The Performer cleans rugs and carpets, stairs and upholstery. It also operates in extraction mode to remove water in flood restoration jobs.

Instructions

  1. Start-up

    • 1

Turn the exhaust diverter valve setting to "HEAT EXCHANGER."

    • 2

Adjust the temperature control setting on the control panel to the desired temperature.

    • 3

Turn the heat bypass valve clockwise to close it.

    • 4

Verify that the "Engine" setting on the control panel is at "IDLE" and that the engine choke is pulled out.

    • 5

Hold the water pump switch to the left override position and turn the ignition switch to "START." After the engine starts, wait until the pressure registers on the pressure gauge before releasing the water pump switch.

    • 6

Push the choke in. When the engine warms up, push the throttle in to the full throttle setting and lock it.

    Priming

    • 7

Insert the chemical inlet tube and the chemical prime tube into the chemical container.

    • 8

Verify that the chemical inlet tube is fully submerged and does not suck air into the system.

    • 9

Set the chemical selector valve to the "PRIME" setting on the control panel.

    Waste Pump

    • 10

Connect a garden hose to the pump-out connection on the console.

    • 11

Connect the other end to a proper waste disposal drain.

    • 12

Set the pump-out switch to "ON" at the control panel.

    Carpet Cleaning

    • 13

Set the exhaust diverter valve to "HEAT EXCHANGER" for high temperature cleaning or to "MUFFLER" for water extraction work, such as flood restoration. In "MUFFLER" mode, be sure the water pump override switch on the control panel is in the "OFF" position for flood restoration.

    • 14

Check the cleaning nozzles by holding the wand one foot above the cleaning surface and operating the wand valve switch. Spray from the cleaning nozzle should be full and even. Adjust or replace the nozzles if necessary.

    • 15

Apply cleaning chemical on the push stroke of the wand and vacuum on the pull stroke. Use the wand in a scrubbing motion on heavily soiled areas, applying chemical on both the push and pull strokes, then vacuuming.

    • 16

Keep the wand opening flat on the carpet or surface being cleaned. When the chemical valve is open, keep the wand moving.

    • 17

Empty the waste tank if the unit shuts down automatically.

    Upholstery Cleaning

    • 18

Install either the Upholstery tool or the Multi-Head tool. Install a 80015 spray tip in either tool.

    • 19

Set the diverter valve in the "MUFFLER" position and the water pump "ON."

    • 20

Open the heat bypass valve on the lower front panel slightly by turning it counter-clockwise.

    • 21

Set the pressure adjustment at the tool by turning the adjusting knob located on the valve. Pressure should be below 300 psi.

    Stair Cleaning

    • 22

Install the Long Stair Tool or the Short Stair Tool. Install a 9502 spray tip in the tool.

    • 23

Set the diverter valve to the "HEAT EXCHANGER" setting. Adjust the temperature control to the desired temperature.

    • 24

Open the heat bypass valve on the lower front panel slightly.

    Flood Restoration

    • 25

Adjust the temperature control to 150 degrees Fahrenheit.

    • 26

Turn the heat bypass valve counter-clockwise to open it.

    • 27

Set the diverter valve to the "MUFFLER" position and "EXTRACT."

    • 28

Verify that the water pump override switch is off.

    Shutdown

    • 29

Run fresh water through chemical injection system to flush out all chemicals.

    • 30

Operate the vacuum function to suck as much moisture out of the vacuum hoses as possible.

    • 31

Set the throttle control to low speed (first notch). Disconnect the vacuum hoses.

    • 32

Open the heat bypass valve by turning it two turns counter-clockwise. Wait for the temperature indicator to drop below 180 degrees Fahrenheit. Close the heat bypass valve completely.

    • 33

Pull the throttle out to idle. Run the unit for 1 minute to remove moisture from the vacuum pump.

    • 34

Push the throttle in. Plug the vacuum inlets. Spray lubricating oil into the vacuum lubrication cup for 5 seconds. Pull the throttle back out to idle.

    • 35

Turn the ignition switch off. Turn off the water supply at the faucet. Loosen the water supply hose at the water supply and bleed the water pressure out of the hose, then remove the hose and store.

    • 36

Actuate the valve on the tool to bleed pressure from the tool and pressure hoses. Disconnect the tools and pressure hoses and store.

    • 37

Drain the waste tank and dispose of waste in a manner in accordance with local, state and Federal laws.

    • 38

Take the strainer out of the waste tank and clean it. Check the vacuum inlet filter inside the tank and remove and clean if necessary. Rinse out the waste tank with clean water.
