How to Clean Nonflammable Clothes

Nonflammable clothes are garments that have been made or covered in a fire resistant material. You can wash your nonflammable clothes at home using the same basic washing techniques that are used to wash flammable clothes, such as using a washing machine, or spot cleaning the clothes to remove smaller stains and spills. Cashmere, wool, vintage or delicate clothes should only be cleaned at a dry cleaners to prevent any damage to the garment, and colored and white clothes should always be washed separately to prevent color bleeding.

Instructions

  1. Washing Machine

    • 1

Separate the white nonflammable clothes from the colored nonflammable clothes.

    • 2

Put all of the white or all of the colored clothes into the washing machine, and close the washing machine door or lid.

    • 3

Pour the detergent into the compartment specified in your washing machine's manual. The amount of washing detergent required depends on the make of the washing machine and the number of clothes you are washing. Shut the compartment.

    • 4

Set the washing machine to the appropriate wash for the type of clothes you are washing as specified in the manual. Start the washing machine cycle and allow it to finish.

    • 5

Remove the clothes from the washing machine. Pin them onto a washing line and allow them to dry before wearing.

    Spot Clean

    • 6

Fill the bowl up with warm water. Mix a small amount of laundry detergent into the water and stir until it is fully dissolved.

    • 7

Roll up the cloth and dip the end of it into the laundry detergent mixture.

    • 8

Place the item of clothing onto a table with the stain facing you. Dab the stain with the cloth several times. Continue to drip the cloth in the mixture and dab the clothing until the stain is removed. Pin the item of clothing onto a washing line and allow the item of clothing to dry before wearing.
