Satin nickel, otherwise known as brushed nickel, refers to brass that is coated with a dulled and lacquered nickel finish. The resulting appearance has less sheen than stainless steel or chrome. The lacquer coating not only dulls the satin nickel’s appearance, it also protects the delicate nickel against scratches and wear. Using abrasive cleaners wears away the lacquer, exposing it to potential damage. Remove water stains from satin nickel appliances with care to preserve the integrity of the finish.
