How to Clean a Frigidaire Self-Cleaning Oven Model FEFL77ABG

Your Frigidaire FEFL77ABG self-cleaning oven makes a dirty oven less dreadful; however, using the self-cleaning feature requires a bit of preparation and after care. The oven heats up to an extremely hot temperature to loosen baked-on grime from inside the oven, but it doesn’t dispose of that grime after the cycle is finished. Properly prepare your oven for the self-cleaning cycle, and clean it up afterward to ensure your oven gets cleaned properly and no parts are damaged during the process.

Instructions

    • 1

Take the broiler pan and insert from the oven. Remove any aluminum foil or utensils from the oven. You can leave the oven racks in place.

    • 2

Wipe down the inside of the oven with a rag and hot, soapy water to remove any surface spills or debris. Scrape up large spills with a plastic spatula, then wipe with the wet rag. Leaving large spills in the oven during the self-cleaning cycle can cause fire or heavy smoke. Spills from highly acidic or sugary foods must be cleaned before running the self-clean cycle or they can leave a dull spot on the oven.

    • 3

Wipe the door frame, liner and gasket with a rag and hot, soapy water. Dry the area thoroughly with a clean rag.

    • 4

Press the “Clean” button on the control pad. Three dashes will come up on the display. Select a two-hour cycle by pressing the down arrow once, or a three-hour cycle by pressing the up arrow once. Choose a two-hour cycle for a lightly-soiled oven and a three-hour cycle for a heavily-soiled oven.

    • 5

Let the entire self-clean cycle run. The door will lock during the cycle and will not open until the cycle is finished and the oven has cooled to a safe temperature.

    • 6

Wipe the interior of the oven with a damp cloth to remove the residue left behind from the cleaning cycle.
