How to Get Rid of the Smell of Scallops From the Refrigerator

Scallops are members of the mollusk family and are often featured on various seafood menus. Although scallops may be a tasty source of protein, they often have a strong, fishy smell. Instructions

    • 1

Remove the contents of your refrigerator and drawers and shelves that slide out.

    • 2

Spray the drawers, shelves and inner walls of the refrigerator with undiluted white vinegar. Allow the vinegar to soak in for about 30 minutes.

    • 3

Wash the drawers and shelves in hot, soapy water. Rinse them and dry them with a lint-free cloth.

    • 4

Wipe down the inner walls of the fridge with a damp, soapy cloth. Rinse the cloth in clean water, and wipe down the walls again. Dry with a lint-free cloth.

    • 5

Return the drawers and shelves to the refrigerator. Replace food and beverage items as long as they have not absorbed the scallop odor.

    • 6

Place a freshly opened box of baking soda in the refrigerator to help with continued odor neutralization.
