How to Hook Up the Hose to a Dyson Vacuum

Dyson upright vacuum cleaners can be converted to work like canister vacuums. The hose attached to the Dyson upright allows for cleaning above the floor, an area commonly reserved for canister vacuum cleaners with dedicated hose systems already in place. When assembling the Dyson for the first time, attach the hose system properly to make sure the cleaner is always read to convert into a machine capable of handling cleaning jobs all over the house.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the Dyson upright from the packaging and set the machine in the upright position on the floor.

    • 2

Remove the hose and cleaning wand from the packaging.

    • 3

Locate the cylindrical opening at the back of the cleaner. The opening is connected to the Dyson motor system and is the source for the suction that will allow the hose and cleaning wand to clean above the floor targets.

    • 4

Align the tabs on the colored rim of the hose with the slots on the opening at the back of the machine. Push the hose into the opening until the tabs engage to lock the hose into place on the back of the Dyson cleaner.

    • 5

Press the wand release button, located on the rearward facing side of the hose, and slide the wand into the hose. Release the wand release button to secure the wand in place within the hose.

    • 6

Push the wand toward the upright section of the Dyson cleaner until it locks into place with an audible "click."
