How to Get Burn Marks Off Glass Cooktops

Glass cooktops are becoming popular in home kitchens for their sleek look and generally easy cleaning. With a glass cooktop, the heating element is protected by a glass surface so that any spillovers do not get onto or under a heating element, the way they might in a traditional electric stove. Because the glass cooktop becomes very hot, spillovers can result in burned-on stains on the cooktop that cannot be removed with regular cleaning methods.

Instructions

    • 1

Allow the cooktop to cool completely.

    • 2

Apply a dime- to quarter-size dollop of cream cleaner to the burnt-on stain.

    • 3

Hold the razor blade tool at a 45-degree angle. Use the razor blade to scrape the burnt-on stain off of the cooktop, applying pressure as you go. Keep some cream cleaner between the blade and the cooktop at all times to prevent scratches.

    • 4

Wipe the cream cleaner and residue off the razor blade with a paper towel.

    • 5

Squirt some cream cleaner over random areas on the cooktop. Spread it onto the cooktop with a clean paper towel.

    • 6

Buff the cream cleaner off the cooktop with a clean paper towel, rubbing in a circular motion.
