Pull the refrigerator out far enough from the wall to unplug it. Having your fridge on casters or wheels makes this job, and all routine cleaning, a lot easier.
Remove any decorative panels at the bottom of the Maytag refrigerator. Find the screws that hold those panels in place, then remove them and set them aside in a safe place. Set the panels aside as well. Use a screwdriver to remove the screws, since they are generally too tight to turn by hand.
Pull the drip pan straight out of the Maytag refrigerator. You may need to lift up slightly on the tray to get it to slide easily. Place the drip tray in the sink as soon as you have removed it from the fridge.
Run hot water over the drip tray to loosen and remove as much of the dirt, food particles and debris as possible. Use a scrubber sponge to remove any stuck on food and dirt. A 50/50 mixture of vinegar and water works well for this purpose as well.
Use an acidic cleanser designed for plastic if you can't remove all of the food and stains with the scrubber brush and vinegar. You can find these cleansers at many plumbing supply stores and home improvement warehouses.
