How to Clean the Metal Part of a Crock Pot

A crock-pot is a self-contained cooking system that does not require a stove top or oven to cook food. Also called a slow-cooker, a crock-pot plugs into an ordinary wall outlet, which provides the cooker with the power it needs to conduct varying levels of heat. While the lid and ceramic insert of the crock-pot are usually dishwasher safe, the outer metal portion of the cooker is not. Because it contains electrical components, immersing the outer shell of the crock-pot in water is not an option.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the crock-pot and wait for it to cool down after cooking and removing the food for eating. Once cool, remove the lid and ceramic insert and place them in the dishwasher or sink full of sudsy water.

    • 2

Dip a soft cloth into the sudsy water or dampen a soft cloth with water and dish soap. Wring-out the cloth to remove most of the water and wipe down the metal parts of the crock-pot.

    • 3

Repeat as many times as necessary until the metal comes clean. Wipe the metal dry with a second soft cloth. Replace the ceramic insert and lid after washing and store the crock-pot in a cabinet or on your countertop.
