How to Access the Belt on a Bissel Proheat

A combination of cleaning fluid and suction allows your Bissell Proheat to eradicate dirt and grime. Beneath the vacuum, a brush roll stirs any dirt loose from carpeted surfaces. Both the pump and brush roll rely on belts to connect them to the motor. Examining the belts periodically helps ensure they remain in operating condition. Examining them closely first entails gaining access to them.

Instructions

    • 1

Step on the handle release at the back of your Bissell Proheat vacuum. Lay the handle down on the ground.

    • 2

Lift the “2-in-1” tank carry handle on the vacuum base. Pull the tank away from the vacuum and place it to the side. If the vacuum contains a “Smart Mix” tank, remove this tank as well. The “Smart Mix” tank is located at the front of the vacuum head. Lift up on this tank to remove it.

    • 3

Locate the “Ready Tool” dial on the side of the vacuum. Just below the dial sits the belt access door.

    • 4

Insert the a flat-bladed screwdriver into the slot of the belt access door. Carefully pry the door free.

    • 5

Rotate your Bissell Proheat onto its side to access the underside.

    • 6

Locate the red retainer arm on the inside of the vacuum head. This arm contains a single screw.

    • 7

Remove the red retainer arm screw using a Phillips screwdriver.

    • 8

Detach the red retainer arm. Detaching the retainer arm exposes the brush arm.

    • 9

Grab the brush arm and remove it from the underside of the vacuum. Removing the brush arm permits direct access to the pump belt and “toothed” brush belt.
