How to Replace the HEPA Filter on a Dyson DC18 Slim

The Dyson company is known for its innovative ball design that serves as the signature piece for its vacuum cleaners. The ball provides a fulcrum for the vacuum movement as well as protection to the motor and other components of the unit. HEPA, which stands for High-Efficiency Particulate Air, is a type of filter that removes allergens, bacteria and viruses from the air. The Dyson DC18 Slim model is a lightweight machine that has a built-in HEPA filter. Follow a few simple steps to replace the filter when necessary.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the vacuum cleaner from the wall outlet.

    • 2

Grasp the handle at the top of the collection container. This is the clear section that sits in the center of the Dyson vacuum above the ball. Lift up on the unit to remove it from the cleaner. Place the container on a solid surface such as a counter or table.

    • 3

Lift the latch on the side of the collection container to open the top. The latch sits on the same side as the smaller end of the collection container handle.

    • 4

Grab the circular filter at the top of the container and lift it out. Insert the replacement filter and close the container. Push down on the latch to secure it.

    • 5

Reassemble the vacuum cleaner by placing the collection container back in its place.
