Stainless steel is resistant to rust and general wear and tear, but it can become scratched or dinged if heavy or sharp objects make contact with it. If your stainless steel appliances or sinks become scratched, cleaning and polishing the stainless steel can remove many superficial scratches. Deeper scratches may require sanding, followed by additional polishing. The manufacturer of the appliance may recommend specific products to use to remove dings and scratches.
