How to Get the Burnt Wood Smell Out of a Dishwasher

Dishwashers are appliances that can accumulate various types of smells due to the mixture of food particles and detergent chemicals that are often found inside. Some foul odors may even smell like burnt wood. If you have a burnt wood smell in your dishwasher, you will need to clean it using products that will sanitize and deodorize your appliance. These products happen to be inexpensive and non-toxic as well.

Instructions

      Open your dishwasher and remove any food particles or debris that may be inside. These particles often collect at the bottom of the washer, near the drain.

      Spray the inside surfaces and seals of your dishwasher with white vinegar. Wait for 30 minutes as the vinegar soaks in.

      Wet a cleaning sponge with white vinegar and dip it into baking soda. Use the sponge to wipe out the inside of the appliance and the washer's seals.

      Moisten a clean toothbrush with white vinegar and dip it into baking soda. Use this brush to reach small areas that you may not have been able to clean well with the sponge.

      Fill a dishwasher-safe container with white vinegar and place it upright and uncovered on the top rack of your washer. Run the washer through its regular cycle.
