How to Get Rid of Scratches on an Electric Coiled Range

An electric coil range is a stove with electric-powered coil burners. The range is enamel coated in colors such as white, black or beige. Although the enamel is very durable, it scratches from cooking appliances and sharp utensils. An easy method to remove scratches from an electric coil range utilizes a cleaning product -- a melamine foam eraser. If the eraser does not work, another method uses appliance paint to accomplish the task.

Instructions

  1. Melamine Foam Eraser

    • 1

Turn off the stove and the burners. The stove must be cool before you touch it. Combine hot water and about a tablespoon of dish detergent in a cleaning bucket. Immerse a cotton rag into the bucket and ring it out. Clean the scratched areas with the saturated cotton rag to remove grease and dirt. Wipe the scratched area with a dry cotton rag.

    • 2

Wet a melamine foam eraser with water and ring it out in your hands. Scrub the scratches with the foam eraser. The foam eraser removes minor scratches.

    • 3

Wipe away the residue from the foam eraser with a damp cotton rag.

    Appliance Paint

    • 4

Select an appliance touch-up paint color that matches your range. Appliance touch-up paint is sold at home improvement stores in a variety of colors.

    • 5

Apply a small amount of appliance touch-up paint to the cleaned scratched area. Allow the paint to dry for 30 minutes.

    • 6

Tap the paint with your finger to confirm it is dry. Reapply a small amount of the touch-up paint if necessary.
