How to Remove Burns From Stainless Steel Cooktop

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off all the burners and the oven. Wait for the cooktop to cool completely before attempting to clean it.

    • 2

Wipe the surface of the cooktop with a dry rag to remove any dry crumbs and other debris.

    • 3

Apply a small amount of white vinegar on a clean cloth or a soft sponge. The amount you use should not be larger than a nickel. You can also apply the same amount directly to the larger burned areas on the cooktop and allow it to sit for about five minutes before scrubbing the areas. The vinegar will help dissolve some of the burn stains and allow you to remove them more easily.

    • 4

Scrub the burned areas with the sponge or soft cloth. In order to remove some of the tougher areas, you may have to apply some pressure.

    • 5

Rinse the sponge or cloth occasionally and apply more vinegar as needed while you work. You should also occasionally wipe away some of the loose particles that come off as you clean.

    • 6

Apply baking soda directly to remove stubborn burned areas and scrub them using a soft cloth. Use a gentle motion, working from the outside in when using baking soda to minimize any possible scratches. Remove the baking soda by running a damp cloth over the area.
