What Belt Fits a Vacuum Bissell Powerforce Turbo 6596?

Bissell manufactures a variety of cleaning products such as vacuums, hard floor cleaners, steam cleaners, cleaning chemicals and accessories. The Powerforce Turbo 6596 is an upright vacuum, the latest of the two models of this series. The belt is available through Bissell directly or several organizations that manufacture parts and accessories for Bissell products.
  1. Belt

    • The belt for the Powerforce Turbo 6596 is Bissell part number 203-1093. The belt is available for purchase on Bissell's website, as well as stores that sell the Powerforce Turbo vacuum. The belt fits a variety of Bissell vacuums, including styles 7, 9, 10, 12, 14 and 16. The package -- which contains two belts -- will refer to the make and style number.

    Appearance

    • The belt may look smaller than the existing belt on the Powerforce Turbo 6595 because the belt is stretched when it is installed in the unit. The belt is approximately 1/2-inch wide and 5 1/2 inches long. At a Bissell store, an employee can help you find the belt.

    How To Replace It

    • To replace the belt, lay the machine flat on the floor with the bottom of it facing up. Remove the brush cover with a Phillips-head screwdriver. Lift the rotater brush out of the unit. If the old belt is attached to the rotater brush, remove it. If the belt broke and is not attached, look for the belt near the motor pulley and remove it. Attach one end of the new belt to the motor pulley and the other end to the rotating floor brush. Replace the rotating floor brush into the unit by gently stretching the belt until the floor brush fits correctly into the unit. Reassemble the brush cover.

    Testing the Vacuum

    • After replacing the belt, use the vacuum cleaner to ensure it is installed properly. To extend the life of the vacuum and the belt, it's best to routinely perform standard maintenance on the rotater brush. Debris such as string or glass can damage to the belt.
