How to Clean a GE Dishwasher Steam Vent

GE dishwashers are equipped with vents that allow steam to escape during the washing and drying cycles. If these vents become dirty or show evidence of mildew, you will need to clean them.

• Cotton swabs
• White vinegar
• Baking soda

     Mix a solution of 1/2-cup white vinegar and 1 teaspoon of baking soda.

     Dip a clean cotton swab into the solution.

     Insert the swab into the steam vents and wipe down all accessible areas from this entry point. Steam vents are located on the upper, outer portion of the dishwasher door. Use additional swabs dipped in the cleaning solution if necessary.

     Moisten a cotton swab with clean water and swab the vent entry once more to remove any residue from the cleaning solution.
