How to Care for Faberware

Farberware is a cookware brand that dates back to 1900. Over the last century, it has grown into a major cookware manufacturer and gained a reputation for high-quality products. The collection includes a variety of products, including hard-anodized, stainless-steel and non-stick cookware. The pots, pans and bakeware produced by Farberware can last for years if well treated. However, because caring for Farberware may require some effort on your part, it’s a good idea to understand how to take care of your cookware before you start using it.
  1. Cooking with Farberware

    • Preseason your pans before the first use by cleaning them thoroughly, drying them off and then rubbing a small amount of oil into them using a clean paper towel. You can also rub a little oil on the pan just before each time you cook to keep it in good condition. Use your Farberware pots, pans and bakeware on the lowest heat setting needed to cook your food. High heat can cause your Farberware to overheat, damaging it and reducing its useable lifespan. A lower heat setting usually results in a more-evenly cooked dish as well. Don’t start heating prior to placing food or oil in the pan since heating it while empty can destroy your cookware.

    Things to Avoid

    • Cook and serve food with wooden or plastic utensils, not metal. Metal can scratch the nonstick surface. Avoid using spray-on oil with your Farberware cookware. Spray oils stick to crevaces and sides and become sticky and pasty. This residue, which is caused by the soy lecithin in cooking sprays, is difficult to remove without damaging the nonstick surface. If your cookware’s nonstick surface starts to peel or tear, replace the pans to avoid accidentally getting any of the nonstick coating in food and eating it.

    Cleaning

    • Let your pan cool completely before washing it or pouring cold water into it. A drastic change in temperature could cause your cookware to warp. Wash your Farberware by hand in warm water using a soft sponge and mild dish soap. The dishwasher can remove the silicone coating on non-stick pans and can destroy a hard anodized surface.

    Storage

    • Store your Farberware in a safe, uncrowded place so other cookware doesn’t rub up against it and destroy the outer surface. Don’t stack Farberware, but give each piece its own space. If you must nest them, place a napkin between each piece to protect them.
