Hand-rubbed brass is conditioned with oil to give it a rich, bronzed texture. Hand-rubbed brass faucets make beautiful additions to any bathroom, but require consistent care to keep them clean and beautiful. Standing water, vigorous rubbing and surface debris can wear away the hand-rubbed oil and ruin the patina. The most important part of keeping hand-rubbed brass clean is acting quickly to preempt staining.
