What Is an Electrolux Vacuum After-Filter?

The Electrolux brand was started in 1910 by Axel Wenner-Gren. The vacuum is well-known as the one of the first vacuums cleaners used in homes. Even older model Electrolux vacuums are still in use today. The after-filter is a part used on some older-model Electrolux vacuums and is still available for purchase.
  1. After-Filter

    • The after-filter is used on Electrolux vacuums with top-mounted vacuum bags. This includes the Le, High Tech, 2100 HT-2100, Limited Edition, Epic series 5000, 6000 and 6500, Regency, Ambassador, Diplomat, Legacy, Lux 7000 and Classic.

    Changing

    • The filter sits on top of the vacuum cleaner bag. When changing the filter, detach the hose and stand the vacuum up with the wheels of the canister on the side. Unlatch the button on the top of the vacuum to open the canister. Place the filter on top of the vacuum cleaner bag. Close and latch the top of the canister.

    Maintenance

    • The after-filter should be changed every three months. Carpets in high traffic-areas and pet hair can cause the filter to become dirty fast, and require changing frequently. Although the Electrolux is a sturdy vacuum and most models that use the after-filter are over 20 years old, routine maintenance will extend the life of the vacuum.

    Purchasing

    • The after-filter is available from a variety of companies that manufacture vacuum parts and accessories. Electrolux also manufactures these filters. Many vacuum and sewing machine retailers also have parts and repair Electrolux vacuums.
