Lift the gas burner grates out after they cool. Pulling them off of the range to clean allows you to thoroughly detail your stove top.
Scrub the grates in hot soapy water. Opt for dish soap that targets grease to lessen the amount of time you spend scrubbing. Depending on the amount of grease buildup, you may want to allow the grates to soak while you clean the rest of your appliance.
Clean the top of the range thoroughly with a hot soapy rag. Often drippings from the foods you cook pile up on the stove-top, making it appear greasy and dirty. A buildup of oil and grease also increases your risk of fire.
Inspect your burner grates after they soak for awhile. Scrub them with a stainless steel scrubber if you notice a lot of buildup. Rinse grates thoroughly to remove all dish soap. If they still appear dirty, you may need to clean them with ammonia.
Fill a container with enough water to cover the grates. Add 1/4 cup of ammonia. Cover the container and allow burner grates to soak overnight.
Rinse burner grates with hot water to remove ammonia and stuck-on food and grease. This step should be completed after an overnight soak.
Repeat above steps if necessary and scrub burner grates with hot soapy dish water. This allows you to remove any spots that may have loosened up after soaking in the ammonia.
Wash all residue off grates with clean water and allow to dry completely. Place them on a towel so they can air dry.
Place burner grates back on the range after drying. From this point, you may continue to use your LG gas range as you normally would.
