DIY Hoover F4255 Repair

The Hoover F4255 is the FloorMAX Supreme hard floor polisher and carpet scrubber. The machine has several attachments, including polishing pads and scrub brushes to perform a variety of cleaning and polishing functions. If the machine is not functioning properly and seems to require repairs, the machine can often be disassembled and cleaned to restore function.

Instructions

      Turn off the Hoover F4255 and unplug it from the electrical outlet.

      Remove the water tank by squeezing the clamp on the handle and sliding it up. Lift the lid on the tank high enough to remove the tank from the machine. Remove the tank.

      Unscrew the cap on the bottom of the tank and remove the tubing attached to the lid. Submerge the cap and tubing in a sink filled with warm water and a few drops of dish detergent. A half cup of bleach can also be used if the tube looks discolored or dirty. Allow the cap and tubing to soak for a few minutes. Rinse the cap and tubing with warm water to remove any debris that may be in the tubing. Allow that cap and tubing to dry.

      Pour 1 cup of bleach into the tank, using a funnel. Fill the tank with warm water and set it upright. Allow the bleach to penetrate any stains in the tank for several minutes. Pour the water and bleach mixture out of the tank. Fill the tank with warm water again and pour the water out of the tank. Allow the tank to dry.

      Detach the pads from the unit by unsnapping the fastener holding the pads in place. Gather all the five attachment pads for the unit. Wash each pair of pads or brushes in warm water and dish detergent separately. Washing each pair of pads separately will reduce the risk of leaving residue from different cleaning products used with each pair of pads. Wax or polished used with the polishing pads can leave residue on other pads and brushes if the pads are washed together. Rinse the pads in warm water and allow them to dry.

      Dampen a lint-free cotton rag in warm water and wring it out. Wipe the entire machine with a the warm, dampened rag. This includes the unit that holds the water tank, the base of the unit, the water tank lid and handle. This will remove any dust, debris and residue from chemicals on the machine.

      Reassemble the machine after the parts and accessories are thoroughly dry.
