How to Get Human Hair Cleaned Out of a Washing Machine

Like any other appliance or household surface, your washing machine needs regular cleaning to maintain performance and prevent clothes from becoming dirty. Hair that's stuck to clothing and blankets often comes off during the wash and rinse cycle. Over time, this can build up to clog holes in the wash basin and the wash machine filters. You can remove human hair, as well as pet hair, from your washing machine with simple supplies to keep it clean and running efficiently.

Open the door to your washing machine. Allow it to air-dry for one to two hours.

Spray the inside of the washing machine with an all-purpose spray. Wipe down the surface to finish cleaning it.

Clean the washing machine's inlet water filter to remove human hair that's collected on the surface. Pick the hair off with your fingers. Rinse the filter with water before replacing it in the washing machine.
